Viggo is an egotistical and generally selfish man with little care for other people at all. He sees everybody as stupid, like nobody could possibly understand things quite as well as he. Conning people through his spiritual practice is commonplace. As a man who prefers privacy and a quiet environment Viggo is quick to palm people off, but sometimes he might take the time if they are gullible enough to con them and make them look stupid just to put a smile on his face.

His intentions are almost always self-centred or involve something to benefit himself, making him an incredibly inconsiderate person, friend and partner. Of course at times he can be somewhat thoughtful but he’ll often brush it off like he doesn’t care too much. Viggo is incredibly picky, if something isn’t how he would like it he’ll often go out of his way to make it so. Be it using others or stooping down to questionably low levels, being on top is where he believes he belongs.

He is quick to anger and annoy, getting on his good side can seem like an almost impossible task even for the people who know him.

--

Viggo was born in Rivertide, the first of 3 siblings. His parents are renowned festival coordinators meaning their business was rather plentiful. Still, Viggo grew up rather distanced from his rather jovial family, feeling rather sick of the Rivertide atmosphere as he grew up. He preferred to make friends with pokemon over people - the quiet ghosts and the introverted psychic types. His ghost friends taught him quite a few tricks on how to get around people to get what you wanted which often didn’t go down well with his parents. He was a bright child with a sky-high need to grow and succeed. When he was still at school he became friends with an unruly rotom who enjoyed playing tricks on people. Viggo tricked the rotom in order to get back at some of the other children who had perhaps once or twice called him a freak, somewhat earning the pokemon’s respect. From then it barely left his side.

He grew to believe that people were either a convenience or an inconvenience. He picked his allies wisely, people he believed would benefit him in some way, and made sure that the inconveniences were made to feel like so. With Rotom in tow Viggo began to set his sites on moving away from Rivertide, feeling as though he didn’t belong there and that he needed to find somewhere else to grow and learn. His parents were adamant he was going through a phase, His two new sisters didn’t quite share his disdain for joy like he did. Viggo learned how to take risks in his own favour and how to ensure a gamble paid off, perhaps from the wrong sort of people. Coming home with bruises was quite usual. He was still learning how to pick the correct fights after all. Viggo somewhat mellowed as he matured, deciding that independence was what he needed. When he was eighteen he moved to Wintervale and became an apprentice - the city brought in a fair amount of tourism with it’s wintery weather and cosy spots. It was quite easy to get your way by using the right words with the outsiders - Viggo even felt himself fall prey to such a thing, but he was a quick learner. He became quite an adept young man with an eye for improvement.

When Viggo thought he had essentially learned all he could from his apprentice years and sampling several different careers and studies he decided to found his own business. With assistance from his parents in Rivertide, he was able to found a Hot Springs business to bolster Wintervale’s attractiveness to tourists and outsiders. It proved successful and Viggo was on the up. Over the next few years he extended his roots into other businesses in the city - restaurants, events and more. So long as he had a hand in them his influence grew. And so did his ego of course. It was during this time he bumped heads with another ambitious man - Elijah. Viggo and Elijah considered themselves rivals, somewhat finding themselves racing each other at new opportunities to outdo one another. Eventually, some form of truce was formed, and the two agreed to share drinks together. The rest was history and they ended up engaged instead. Elijah’s partner pokemon, a quiet yamask who followed him everywhere, took to Viggo and his mischievous rotom well.

As the Nera were released into society Viggo was somewhat convinced it was simply a phase. He continued about his business and could not anticipate the changes that would take place. When the Nothing began to turn Wintervale into an uninhabitable tundra he made sure to endorse those who were working quickly to build a new Wintervale, given how quick and ambitious the project was in what little time they had. It gave Viggo some sort of stability and control like he so desperately needed. He and Elijah struggled for business when visitors stopped arriving and people began to become paranoid and introverted all over Wintervale. Survival and self-sufficiency became key, making life at the top that much harder to maintain. When Viggo had secured a place for himself and Elijah in the new Wintervale he made sure to move as much of his material goods and assets over. This took priority over the less fortunate citizens naturally, gaining him a rather infamous reputation as it was. This caused a rift between Viggo and Elijah, knowing that Viggo still continued to put himself and his belongings as his utmost priority. When they were well moved in Viggo and Elijah continued to argue under their new circumstances. Elijah packed his bags and left and Viggo followed - or tried to. When the nothing descended onto the city as night fell Elijah and Viggo were on the outskirts of town. Separated by the blizzard, Viggo lost Elijah in the storm. Viggo was brought quickly back into the safety of the inner city then, but not without regrets. Elijah didn’t turn up again. Not for days. Nobody had seen him.

Viggo was well aware of the stories of the nothing, brushing it off as nothing but fear mongering. When your friends are ghosts and you’re a part of the paranormal world there doesn’t seem to be much to shake you after all. He was convinced Elijah was still recoverable and left the city limits. He descended into old Wintervale to search for Elijah, near catching his death in the cold. He had just about accepted his fate when a wandering Nera came to him - and in that moment he knew it might just keep him alive. He fused with it, finding shelter where he could in the old city until daybreak again. Coming to terms with the fact that he would never find Elijah, Viggo decided to return to new Wintervale again. He’d grown sick from the cold, but also from the realisation that he really, really did not want to be fused with anything and that he’d made a grave mistake in his desperation. He more or less adopted Elijah’s yamask as his own, retreating into himself and blaming everyone but himself for the loss.
