Once upon a time, there was a man who moved to Grovehart. He met a woman, and the two fell in love. Despite his tumultuous past, the man had straightened up, and the couple learned to enjoy a quiet, peaceful life. They had a child together, a young boy that they both cherished. A picture-perfect family, surrounded by Pokemon and a welcoming community.

Until the woman died.

Sinclair struggles to remember his life before his mom's death. All he knows is that both he and his father changed, and no for the better. Gradually, his father expanded his business, and he became cutthroat. He became heartless and unforgiving, showing a sliver of his past compassion only when it comes to Sinclair. That emotional attachment is what has his father keep Sinclair around, with him working as his father's legal assistant and paralegal for his company.

Amongst other things. When he isn't boggled down with forms and legal work, Sinclair's father has him do his dirty work. As a company, his father expects to get paid for his services. And when he doesn't, Sinclair is sent in for collection. In the best case scenario, the client pays the invoice; even if only partially, that will buy them time. If they refuse and do not pay, it's up to Sinclair to "deal with it." Such a situation is what landed Sinclair with his Nera; in an attempt to collect something that could be sold for money from a client, a fight broke out, and Sinclair merged with the Nera.

Sinclair has long since been desensitized to it all. While he wants to be free of his father's control, with no one else in his life, he feels trapped. His father provides for him and protects him, and with the crimes Sinclair has committed for his father's sake, he is terrified of what could happen to him if he betrayed his dad. So he lives his life in the monotony of the routine, waking up, working, sleeping; with a dash of heartless crime on the side.

Due to the nature of his job, Sinclair no longer tries to make connections with others. The risk of them interacting with his father's company is too high, and the idea of Sinclair needing to eliminate a friend is too much for him to bear. He had to do so once before, and his heart hasn't yet recovered.

He was recently ordered by his father to explore the mysterious Sylvangloam area due to the rumors of there being a way for Sinclair to truly bond and harness the power of his Nera. With little to no map available, Sinclair headed off into the Sylvangloam. A small fusion found him and followed him along further into the Sylvangloam; and eventually, they reached a large, strange tree. Sinclair rested by the tree and, alone with his thoughts, fell into a dark place. Sensing his misery, the Ghost-type fusion tried to help and pulled his soul out of his body. The shock startled Sinclair, but he found his thoughts to suddenly be at peace. The fusion reconnected his soul and body, and with renewed hope that things will get better, Sinclair succeeded in bonding with his Nera.

The more animalistic traits he obtained - such as the claws, reptilian eyes and tongue - don't bother him, but he does enjoy his new control over electricity. He does, however, hate shoes more than before.
