History:
The Hasegawa family came to Reignsrest from another region two generations prior. Unfamiliar with the land and it's people, they took to their roots and specialty and opened an aquarium through which they could entertain the local citizens and make a place in their world. Overtime they became a staple name in Rivertide for the work they did and the extensive reach of their aquarium and it's programs. Ryuu grew up amongst the water pokemon his family took care of, flitting between the tanks and pods and making friends with fish and humans alike as his bright eyes held behind them a wonderment and passion for the work his family did.
Life was not as kind to Ryuu, as he was to those around him. He was a sickly and weak child, unable to undergo the traditional system installation as a child due to how fragile his body already was. He didn't let it stop him from living a full life, and as he got older he did eventually outgrow that aspect of himself as well. Never did get around to getting a proper system installed, though. He manages just fine with external devices and he far prefers hiding away in the aquarium, anyway.
He has since taken over the family business, his parents retiring to 'the country' and leaving him with the business and sanctuary at a rather young age. He puts his all into his work, often to the point of exhaustion for himself, all for the sake of the pokemon under his care. None are too odd or 'weird' to be accepted there, and with the appearance of fusions it's only added a new element of adventure that Ryuu is happy to tackle.
What You Character Might Know:
If they are from Rivertide, it is unlikely they would NOT have heard of the Hasegawa Water Sanctuary. It is a prominent feature in the city, and even more so since the Nera Outbreak as they take in pokemon in need and rehabilitate them. The aquarium and sanctuary is open to the public, so any characters could have come by!
Residents of Rivertide could also have volunteered, or perhaps even worked at the sanctuary. If that is the case, they'd likely know a great deal about Ryuu as he's pretty much an open book even around mostly strangers.
