Several years ago, Damian had a completely different life. He was under the local gang's thumb, made to do their bidding, which usually involved grunt work and taking care of the pokemon. He always had a way with pokemon, especially of the canine variety. When he first was introduced to Nera, it was when it first came to be. He had been out in the snowy wilderness watching some wild furfrou when a strange wispy orb floated towards him, first past the furfrou, then closer to him. He had no idea what it was, but he was immediately drawn to it. It felt lonely, like he did. He reached out and accepted it, and he was transformed! When he came back into town, the gang boss immediately noticed the transformation and threatened him, saying he should have captured the nera and given it to him, as Damian was in a considerable amount of debt, and Nera was a new and valuable commodity. As it was so new, even the boss did not fully know how Nera worked, and he demanded Damian remove the Nera and give it to him. He threatened the hybrid and even made good on those promises, but Damian had no clue, and could not simply give up the Nera that he had absorbed. In a last ditch effort, they cut part of his tail off, as that was something they had seen on some dog pokemon and thought it would be a fun practice to also get Damian to cough up the Nera. It didn't work, and Damian was left with roughly half of his previous tail. They gave up after that, and eventually Damian was able to bring them more nera and breed some rare combinations of pokemon to create strong offspring, and he paid off his debt. Free from the gang, he left it all behind and started up his own pokemon breeding business. He specializes in canine pokemon and creating useful pokemon for daily life, including service and support pokemon.
