Tech Support - Parasocial Relationships?

Emilio had never been particularly great with technology. He had grown up on a farm in the middle of Johto where he spent more time with pokemon and in nature than he did with technology, yet ever since coming to ReignsRest he'd grown to adapt to it quickly. While before he never cared about the social medias now he was obssessed with it- it was what paid his bills after all but even then he wouldn't say he was great. Xavier was the one who handled the finer details so that Emilio could simply scroll through things and enjoy, a skill that he believed everyone to have and yet he found himself in the company of one who didn't. 

 

Alias and Blossom were sitting at his feet, the first having fallen asleep while the latter played with strands of fallen hair. On his shoulder was another pokemon, a small joltik corsola named Daisy while standing behind him was a tall and slender fellow. They were older than him, the owner of this place, and somehow even more technologically illiterate than he himself was.

 

"You see this little button that say's follow?" Emilio asked lightly, because somehow he found himself having to try and explain it to him. "If you follow them then you'll be everything that they post from then on. You can even set it up so you get a notification for every post!"

 

Emilio had gone in to get a haircut while here in Rivertide and was currently trapped in a little barber shop. It was one hidden away among the colorful street's but there was a draw to it for Emilio, and was the knowledge that inside was another of the most gorgeous men that Emilio had ever seen. Cica was their name- and they were a dragon persion fusion. They looked incredible. They dyed their fur from the fusion into a whole array of colors and wore contacts to make their eyes look distinct. More than that though was their long hair was done up in an intricate style because if he let it hang down it would drag across the floor. 

 

"... Would that not be in some way creepy?" They asked softly. Cica reached over to pick up the small joltik from Emilio's shoulder and bring them up to rest on his own as he brushed through the younger man's hair. Splitting the strands so that he could dye them and giving the spare bits to Blossom who was eager to accept. "To follow what someone does so closely like that?" 

 

"No no! Of course not!" Emilio said quickly. "I mean.. Sometimes it is. Sort of."

 

"Sort of?"

 

Now they stammered over their words a little bit which awoke the sleeping Alias. The bug pokemon looked up at their trainer for a moment, seeing how they seemed to struggle to figure out the answer and let out a bemused little scoff- which earned a rather dirty look from Blossom. 

 

"Well. Sometimes people do take it too far and try to pry into a person's personal life too much. Form a parasocial relationship. But most of the time whatever someone is posting is something they're okay with you seeing! Like here-" 

 

Quickly Emilio searched up a name in the search bar, bringing up Emilio's profile on the site where he posted quite frequently. "This is mine! Everything on here is something I want to share with people." While Cica was here to do his hair he raised the screen up so that Cica would now be the one to scroll. It was filled with different photo's that Emilio had taken over the years- from photo's of pokemon, Xavier, strangers who'd agreed to do a photoshoot, it was filled to the brim with everything. 

 

"...And you aren't worried about someone following you with bad intentions?" Cica asked now with a small head tilt before pointing to one of the photos Emilio had taken on the beach of Rivertide. "Like here, I know where this spot is. What if someone saw the post came after you?"

 

Emilio laughed now at that. "Come after me?? No way! No one would be interested in me like that- and even if they did I have lots of pokemon who would protect me alongside Xavier." He said quite proudly. Almost too proudly.

 

"Mmm... I suppose." Cica agreed as he took the hair from Blossom. The Misdreavus fluttered down from where he had been to now go bother Alias who let out a rather loud screech at being bodied by the Fairy pokemon. The persian man watched it happen for a moment before looking to the joltik that was on his shoulder. "I still am not sure... It seems like a world of poor potential. Doesn't it, Daisy?"
