Eddy Rank Up | Meatloaf!

John often found himself worried about those around him. He worried that Noir would push himself too hard and injure himself beyond repair, he worried that Honey might have someone take advantage of him due to how naïve he often seemed to be. John worried about Seth's possible depression and he worried about Klaus who was. Well. Klaus. Right now however, the one he was worried about was none other than Eddy. Celeste's boyfriend who was standing there  beside him with a knife in hand and tears rolling down their face. 

 

"...You're okay Eddy." John said carefully and Eddy looked over at him- the puffiness of his eyes was start and John couldn't help the small snicker over the sight.

 

The young man had come to him wishing to learn how to handle a knife properly. He'd tried to cook something for Celeste the other day and in doing so ended up cutting his one finger- it was described to him as being a blood bath. An exageration for sure but even so Celeste had asked that Eddy simply would ask a chef when he wanted something instead of doing it himself. He could do that, sure, of course... But That isn't what Edward was wanting to do. He was wanting to try and make something for Celeste himself. So that's what they were here to do, to try and make Celeste something. They'd gone through the motions of trying to figure out what to make, from sweets, desserts, breakfast, a dinner- and in the end Eddy had ended up on Meatloaf. Definitely not the type of food that John had been expecting, but he would show the Eldegoss how to do so all the same.

 

"....My eyes are burning." Eddy said pitifully which earned just another laugh.

 

"That's what happens when you cut onions!"

 

"I know, I know.. This is just. A very strong onion." 

 

John rolled his eyes at that before looking at the way that Eddy was holding the knife and the onion itself "That it is, but make sure to curl your fingers in that the tips are protected - if you keep them like that you're going to almost chop them off again. Yeah?" 

 

To make a meatloaf required one to hold a knife and cut up some onions- so that is what they were now doing. And John could definitely see how Eddy had cut himself before, his knife skills were a mess. The man listened well to instructions and quickly he folded up his fingers but even then the hold was awkward. John came in closer and lightly wrapped his hand around Eddy's to reposition him into the proper position. "You'll still cut yourself like that." He said gently and now he began to guide Eddy through the motions.

 

"....If I am here to learn how to cut something-"

 

"You're here to learn to make meatloaf."

 

"....If I'm currently learning how to cut something shouldn't I do it without you holding my hands?"

 

He asked and John paused. He had a fair point, almost.

 

"Eddy."

 

"...John?"

 

"You were about to cut off your fingers I'll do this until you get used to the motions. I've nearly seen you hurt yourself twice already."

 

Eddy didn't protest after that. He let John show him how to cut the onions properly and listened to how they grouched every time he tried to change his hand position. Even when they had enough onions cut up John still kept giving him move. He'd cut up some more onions, celery, potatoes- The first while he had to continually guide Eddy but by the end he seemed to have a hold on how exactly to use the knife safely. 

 

Most home cooks could cut the way Eddy did and it would be fine 90% of the time, but John wasn't a home cook. So by coming to him the Eldegloss would learn the way that Eddy would do it and with any luck, he'd eliminate the fear that Celeste had about him cutting himself. "... You know, this is an uncomfortable way to cut things." Eddy said quietly.

 

"You'll get used to it."

 

"Ah..."

 

At the end of the day, Eddy held a meatloaf in a large tupperware container, staring down at it quite proudly. "Right, now what did you learn? If you're going to cook for Celeste again, what are you going to do?" He asked and the white haired man shifted back and forth where they stood. 

 

"... When cutting something keep the tips of my fingers tucked in. And touching raw meat to form them into shape with my hands won't kill me."

 

"Attaboy. Now go- you wanted that for Celeste so go and give that to Celeste." 

 

A small wave and Eddy was gone.
