FLM - Augment Exchange
[Kelyias]
It had been quite a while since the last time Diana had spoken with Micah, opting to focus on her work. Sure, it had made her antsier- and annoyed, and angry most of the days. But it gave her time to think. Eventually, she grumbled when she looked over documents of augments and cybernetics she had in her possession. Normally she left it to the workers under her who had more, y'know, thoughts about them. She just looked at the value- personal and monetary. That being said some of them stood out to her... namely their ability to provide anti-fog measures.
The fight with Viggo had come to mind, his exclamation about trying to gather information about the fog. Grabbing the paper as she leaned on her hand she read the words before reaching up and dialing a certain someone. After all, if she were to go out to Viggo? He wouldn't come- or care.
That led them to today, a week or two after Diana had schemed her plan. Stood outside a busy club was Nori- a scarf hood combo covering most of his face. After the recent journey to a correctional facility, he wasn't exactly waiting to be caught off guard again. So he covered his head with a hood and had the scarf pulled up to half his face, leaving only his eyes visible. The rest of his clothes were dark leather- tight on his legs and baggy on his torso to change his silhouette.
He had his hands in his pockets while he waited in the Brookfell streets for a certain someone. Told to by Diana, he'd dropped hints and files along the way for Viggo's techy man to pick up- along with an invitation for a deal. He'd be the mediator between her and Viggo, giving him one of the augments and propositioning a deal between the two. At first, Nori wasn't interested. He was a net runner and had better things to do- but she knew what to threaten him with and thus he was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Nevertheless, now he sighed as the waited. It was all he could do.

- After the clash that Viggo had had with Diana, the only notable change in his life seemed to be how Micah was a bit more mopey. It was almost like Viggo's operations were running more smoothly now though, knowing that Diana wasn't about to jump from the woodwork and attempt some self-righteous arrest. At least he wasn't sure if that would happen or not, but it seemed unlikely. The air felt different.
The Chandelure-fused man had been residing in Wintervale for a lot longer than usual lately. Perhaps to take some of the heat from his Cynic participation off his back, but with the rivalry bubbling to the surface between the two organisations it was getting harder to remain somewhat neutral. Not that Viggo was remotely neutral - but he was certainly more interested in his own gains than that of the organisations'. He'd put much of his effort back into his local businesses, and that included Sparks and the rest of his connections in the Wintervale underground. Sparks, reliable as always, kept Viggo up to date every single day. He pushed forward leads he'd gotten in the underground, spoke with new conspirator and the like. Sparks knew where Mr de Jager's priorities were - the fog.
When Sparks was initially tipped off about the illegal tech he was wary. Cybernetics and Brookfell usually went hand in hand with the rest of his clan - a group he'd rather not end up in a tangle with. There was some recon, investigating of sources and the like, before Sparks finally declared that it seemingly had no connections to his former clan - yet. The man provided Viggo with as much information as possible, maybe even warding him off of going himself. After all the last time he'd left Wintervale he'd been beaten to pieces by Obadiah as well. But this seemed to Viggo that it was more important than some other leads Sparks had tipped in his direction, so he'd dictated that he'd travel himself. This time he did at least tell Micah he would be gone for a couple of days at best - never ever did Viggo want an extended stay in Brookfell.
Viggo followed the leads with his TD, though when he found himself at the club he was a bit wary. He adjusted his suppressor to make sure that it sat comfortably and functioned as it should, not wanting to light up the whole area at any given moment and burn through his hood. He took it that the individual lurking outside was the contact he was looking for, stopping just by his side and lighting a cigarette. One way or another, he'd find out if he had gotten the right contact. He offered his lighter then wordlessly.-
[Kelyias]
Nori had sensed the intent of Viggo before he had even seen her, watching him under the hood as he approached- keeping eye on his footsteps and getting ready to bolt if need be. Though, when the man just stood by his side he felt his own shoulder sink a little in ease. He leaned his head back, glancing at the lighter and taking it in his hand. He didn't smoke, but he knew the language.
He started examining the lighter in his hand. Opening it with a click and turning it on and off. He threw it up in his hand and caught it before pushing himself off the wall, sliding himself in front of the man and grabbing his free hand- pressing the lighter back into it. He snaked his fingers through under Viggo's sleeve and took off his glove- or at least enough to reveal the TD on his wrist. Of course, he didn't necessarily think the man would react very kindly, so he looked up at him and offered a small explanation.
"Creating a secure channel."
Small being, well. Accurately put. If he were to share files and names, he needed to ensure that he had a solid connection.
[Aldarch]
- Viggo was fine until Nori started pulling his glove. He flinched, just about to recoil before the little man explained himself. Viggo made a disgruntled noise, moving to put his lighter away and taking a short puff of his cigarette.-
"That didn't make it necessary to start feeling me up in public now, did it."
- He just about exhaled the smoke in Noris face, turning his head halfway through at least. It wasn't like the Brookfell air was any better. Dirty air of Brookfell or thin air of Wintervale. He preferred one over the other.-
"Inside?"
- Viggo's eyes watched the Yamask clinging to his back for a second, then coming back around to his contact.-
[Kelyias]
Nori did his work and slid Viggo's glove back on when he was done.
"Asking wastes time, and time is money. Besides, it's Brookfell. No one cares."
He snickered a little, starting a call with Viggo through that now-secured connection. As he pulled away, he glanced around him for a moment and started going into the alleyway beside the club.
"I've got clearance with the owner to deal inside. Just follow me and stick your guy in your jacket- lots of people snatch pure ones like that."
Naturally, he had his own experiences with that and oftentimes was hired to find stolen ones in the first place. Walking through the alley he turned the corner behind the building- only then looking behind him to see if Viggo was even following. It was for his own benefit if he did, really, so he didn't care too much.
[Aldarch]
- Viggo side-eyed the Yamask peering over his shoulder as they followed Nori into the alley. He put his cigarette in his mouth, then offering a hand to the Yamask gently. Slowly but surely, it came around, tucking itself into Viggo's jacket. Luckily for ghosts it was more than easy to just disappear.-
"Ghost's aren't as easy to get a hold of as you'd expect."
- He felt the need to clarify, finishing off his cigarette and flicking it to the ground, stepping on it in some questionable puddle.-
"For the travel this better be worth my time, or your employers will find me at their necks."
[Kelyias]
"As long as you don't come for mine, I frankly don't care."
Nori walked over to the double doors, tugging on them and opening the club's noisy nature out to the world. A guard naturally turned around when the doors opened, about to grab Nori's arm until he uncovered his head and revealed his face. The guard huffed and turned his back again. Nori himself stepped aside to mock bow Viggo and let him inside.
"We'll head directly into the VIP area. The goods will be there."
[Aldarch]
- Viggo looked the bodyguard up and down as he entered, like he was assessing how that conflict would go if anything went tits up. Following suit, once he was inside he let his hood down and fixed his hair idly. He was at least grateful that he wasn't getting shoved in some dark, unmonitored corner of the city where he'd meet some horrible end. Sparks seemed fine with how the meeting would go - as fine as he could be with not wanting Viggo to go in person. For a kid, sometimes he felt a bit like a mum. Viggo shook that off quickly with a shiver. He did have Sparks on the line in case, as always. He never left himself wide open.-
"So this is an isolated case?"
- Viggo questioned as he stepped into the club, looking down at the little man now bowing to him. Why else would the goods not be secured in a warehouse - perhaps it was an implant for the core.-
"I have procured augments before only for them to fall to pieces in practice."
[Kelyias]
"The club is well secured if that's what you mean."
He closed the doors behind Viggo, bringing up his TD and sending off a message before just-- walking off. Again, he just assumed Viggo would follow him.
"I test them usually myself before I let my employers know. Sometimes they make it through testing, sometimes they don't. Never guarantees they'll work once installed, though."
The man explained a little- and it was true. Theoretically, these things could withstand the fog as much as they wanted. In actuality- the fog tended to hit harder than expected. Once they'd gotten out of the hallways they were met with soft neon lighting in the VIP area, several rooms occupied and others with their doors opened. The doors themselves were holograms- showing the people on the inside on some. Naturally, deals weren't the only things going on in a place like this. Nevertheless, Nori quickly shuffled through to one of the occupied rooms which actually turned out to be vacant- sliding his TD against the door's security measures and getting in without any hassle.
The room itself was, much like the hallway, darkened with the only lighting coming from the neon strip across the ceiling. The sofa curled around the room much like a booth and the table in the middle held only a heavy-duty briefcase.
"Sit and we'll go over it."
[Aldarch]
- Viggo scanned what he could as he passed by. He made sure not to alert any systems to his prying - thanks to Sparks he had protocols against that. He was getting used to how things worked, the environments deals took part in. He'd had his fair share of things going sour - and lots of bodies to go with it afterwards.
Viggo stepped into the VIP room, opening his coat and freeing a rather speedy Rotom into the room. With a whip of his hand the doors closed behind him. He sat on the sofa that curled around the room, just looking at the briefcase for a few moments.-
Watt~" Think I'll bust it this time??"
"One way to find out."
[Kelyias]
Nori sat on the sofa opposite of Viggo, taking off his shoes and bringing one foot up to rest on the sofa. Underneath the sofa, a small Noibat with a scar over its eye scurried out from underneath before flying up and joining him on the sofa. He motioned over to the briefcase, letting Viggo open it himself.
"It's an augment that'll send out an EMP-like pulse. It should, in theory, clear up some of the fog. It's been tested in normal foggy weather and it works there. A lot of people have been trying to get their hands on it in Brookfell with Ethermoor's reconnection, but some of them have been procured by my employer."
He shrugged a little, looking at the nails on his hand and picking at them. They were fake, but it was a habit to pretend they were real.
"I've installed it myself before heading out into the fog and while it did work for the time I went in, I can't say whether or not a body not as cybernetically augmented as mine can handle it and provide enough energy for it."
The briefcase itself had soft padding inside of it. The augment was a small chip in a clear box, clearly visible against the black foam to keep it safe. Alongside, there would be several filled and sealed envelopes, along with a handwritten note on top.
[Aldarch]
"I already have an augment that staves off the effects of the fog. I can handle plenty."
- He confirmed as he looked up at Nori, at the same time reaching for the briefcase. With the click of the locks he gently laid it open, looking over the contents before he at first began feeling around the edges for any false bottom He'd been duped before. Viggo looked over the envelopes, but mostly the note with narrowed eyes.-
"What is this? A letter from an admirer?"
Watt~" Busted... Busted!!! They know!!"
"If you're going to be a baby... You can go back inside the phone."
- He side-eyed Watt, and the Rotom tried to keep it's cool a little more.-
[Kelyias]
"I don't know. I'm not privy to my employer's personal details."
The man shrugged again. It was a little bit of a lie, but mostly true. Diana didn't really tell him much of her personal life- mostly because he didn't care.
"My only job was to get this to you and ensure you understood everything. So, if it's not instructions or anything, I have no clue."
The letter was handwritten from Diana, starting with; "You said you were interested in the fog. I can't say I wouldn't do the same if our positions were reversed- so here is some of the data I've collected over the years along with something that I acquired for you. No clue if it works, but I'll have tried."
Some words were crossed out here and there, evidently not as eloquently put together as it might've appeared.
" Nori has been told to create a call line with you. If you want more from me, let him know. Tell Micah to call me when you get back. "
And that's how it ended.
[Aldarch]
- Viggo shot Nori a suspicious look before he picked up the note. At first he scowled. It was like he was missing a point until he got to the end. Diana. Viggo's face softened for once, even Watt was a little baffled, so he zipped around to look over the note himself. The man had to compose himself, closing his eyes and taking a breath as he dropped the note back to his lap.-
"I understand why your employer would avoid a face-to-face now."
- He confirmed as he folded the note up and tucked it into his back trouser pocket, disturbing and Yamask in his coat a little. He tapped the TD on his temple.-
"I've transferred the details for my dealer in Wintervale. If your employer, or yourself, find anything else of note you can forward it to him. I've wired some credits into your account for the effort - I'm fairly sure you had no intention of getting involved in personal matters with her."
[Kelyias]
Nori watched Viggo as he started reading it and watched his expression change- as if he were studying the change in emotion. He didn't move from his position on the sofa when Viggo started going through the details, though he pulled himself from his own thoughts to respond. He moved his own arm in front of him, accessing the TD on his wrist and bringing up a holo screen to transfer the funds Viggo had sent into a more secure side account.
"I don't understand the whole debacle of doing this in this way- but she pays me well for it so I don't question it."
He mumbled a little before closing the screen and giving the man a wave of dismissal.
"If you need to schedule some transport back this place is safe for you to wait if you don't mind the ruckus."
[Aldarch]
"I have my own transport arranged."
- But Viggo still nodded in some vague appreciation. He leaned over and closed the case in front of him, making sure it was locked tight. Watt settled in his hand for a gentle pat afterwards.-
"But if you could get somebody to fix me up a drink, that tip of yours might just go up some."
Viggo meeting a certain someone's informant to smuggle a highly desired augment into his own hands. Nori just wants the money.

SOUND OF THE UNDERGROUND
Every city has their secrets - well, maybe Brookfell's secrets are less secret. There's more and more shady activity popping up in the shadows of the cities and criminal activity is on the rise.
[Draw or Write about your trainer and if they get themselves into a pickle with the underground activity in the cities.
Are they smuggling? Wrong place wrong time? Something... Worse? Even the cops don't have eyes everywhere.]
