Reading up(Event May 2023)
“Okay, here's the plan!”
Kurai placed down all the books and papers he carried on the table.
Pesky looked up from the cans he was cutting into with a knife, heated up by a small camping cooker flame. “Plan? What are yo-” “I have a plan! That is what I'm talking about.”
“That is not what I wanted to ask.”
Kurai looked at him. “Oh... What did you want to ask?” “What are your problems that you need a plan?”
“Oh.”
Kurai blinked and looked down at the papers and books.
“We can't risk not knowing what else could happen!” “What else could happen?” “That is what I'm trying to figure out.”
Pesky looked down at the books and started heating up the knife again.
“We need to know as much as we can.”
He sat down and looked through the stuff he got.
Frida lifted her head, lying with Haruki on the Couch. Both had intended on a nice nap. But now Frida was more curious why Kurai seemed so energetic. The eevee watched her jump off the couch and walk to the two trainers.
Looking up to them. Kurai smiled and picked her up. “Hey, you want to help me read all that?”
Frida looked at him.
Narrowing her eyes.
Pesky chuckled seeing that, while cutting through another can. “So you just want to read a bit about the history?” “I also got a lot of newspapers!” He put Frida down on the table, noticing Pesky's screen flashing narrowed eyes. Which was enough to make sure he put Frida down. Much to Frida's displeasure. Haruki smiled amused, seeing her whine at Kurai. Trying to jump back up on his lap. But he knew exactly where that would end.
So he made sure she couldn't. Focusing on the newspapers. “So why so keen on having all that knowledge?” “Well when I asked you about it, you didn't remember a thing.”
“You asked me?”
Kurai looked at him and nod. “Yeah. Like a week ago.”
“Oh. What did you ask me again?”
“You know the Teams?”
Pesky's screen showed a question mark. “Cynic and Ethos?” He looked over his newspapers and pulled up one. “There has been something happening with Groudon-”
“The Teams! Yeah!”
Kurai smiled a bit. “Exac-” “No idea.” “Pesky! You gotta know about this.” He waved the newspapers to him. “That was such a huge thing.” Pesky continued his very important work of can business. “Was it?” “Yeah! Look at that.” Kurai basically psuhed the newspaper into his face. Pesky didn't react much to it. “Hold it a bit further away please, I can't read.” “How about you hold it yoOU- Frida!” The purrloin fusion looked up to him. Clawed perfectly into his tail. He sighed and carefully pulled her off. “Lets just look at it all. I want to be informed.”
Kurai put her down on his lap. A hand around her, just so she wouldn't climb up on it.
“For what reason?”
Pesky looked over the newspaper and briefly glanced to the others he had in front of him.
“There is so much happening.. and well.. “ He looked to Pesky for a moment. “You know you ain't need to talk about it.”
Kurai sighed and nod, leaning back. Petting Frida. Haruki finally had gotten up himself. Strolling to the kitchen in search of his food. “I know .. well...” He looked at Pesky and chuckled. “You probably forget it before it becomes relevant again anyway.”
“Very possible.”
The noivern fused Trainer looked at the reflection of himself in the screen mask for a moment and then sighed one more time for good measure. “Okay. I- You know I'm not from here.”
Pesky nod.
“Where I lived, Brookfell, Cynic is not an unknown term.” He scratched Frida for a moment. “Normally I could stay away from it all fairly well. My father had to deal with the most dealings, I'm just.. well if I was meant to help, it was nothing of great importance.”
He looked to Pesky, who already had started picking up a can again. At least he wasn't focused on cutting it. “Continue, I'm listening.”
“Are you really?”
“You think I can't multitask?”
Kurai narrowed his eyes briefly. “Do not mention the ancient happenings to me.” Pesky replied quickly, bending parts of the can. “What even are you doing with those cans?”
“They are noise traps.”
“Noise traps?”
Pesky nod and picked one up. Filling it with two metal balls, before starting to close it again. It was on a bit of metal string. “I wanted to see if I can make it so we know when someone moves through certain places.”
“They would see the strings.”
“I'm working on the details! Plus it sounds funny,” he replied with a chuckle. Shaking the halved can, letting it rattle. Haruki and Frida instantly looked up. Watching it with great interest.
Kurai grinned.
“I think it is more interesting as a toy.”
Pesky eyed it for a moment and then tossed it aside. “Probably. So Cynic in your Town. You know them well enough then?”
“No. Not really. That is why I want to learn more.” “And you think newspapers tell you much?” “At least they tell me about the happenings.”
Pesky chuckled, picking up a tablet. “You are really looking at the wrong spots.” “What do you mean?” He watched Pesky type and then show him a few forums. There were lots of people talking. “Much smarter to ask the people than some paper.”
Kurai looked down on it and watched him scroll. “That's a lot of people.”
“Yeah, they talked about it after all. When things happen, people need to share their opinion.”
The two scrolled through more. Whenever there was a particular thing Kurai was interested in, it was not too hard to find at least others who thought about it too. Had their opinions.
And actually some had some information that Kurai hadn't found in any of the newspapers. Though it was a lot more work to go through it all. Pesky seemed to have a lot less trouble. Leaving the tablet to Kurai. After all he wasn't off the grid, as Kurai was. “Can't you just show me on your mask?”
“I could.”
Pesky let Haruki jump on his lap. The eevee climbed on the table and flopped down against his arm. “Hey why can-” “Because I was handling a hot burning knife.”
“Oh.. okay yeah that was very smart of you.”
Pesky pet Haruki, while Kurai looked back at the tablet. “I think that will fill the whole day.” “Maybe even tomorrow. Though maybe asking around also helps.”
“I don't want to really go back home just to ask around.”
“Understandable. I think. But Rivertide also is a spot where people could know things. But not about the red ones.” “Cynic?” “Yep yep.” “So here is Ethos?” “I think so. At least if you can believe the people chit chatting about it.” The noivern fused Trainer looked at his roommate and shook his head. “I will never understand how you can't even try to be interested in anything.”
“Can't remember it, why should I try?”
Kurai looked at him and then nod. Looking back at the tablet. The newspapers had been forgotten. And now served as a perfect bedding for Frida, that had taken the chance to also finally be on the table again.
A lot of reading was ahead of them.
Trying that prompt.
It is the most difficult for me clearly.
