[Rank Up] Into the sky

Pesky looked up, eyeing the large man who stood in the middle of the park. He was shaking. Even Frida, who stood back beside Pesky to let her trainer do what he wanted to do, looked surprisingly insecure about the current happenings. “You know you do not have to prove anything, yes?”, Pesky called over, making Kurai look up with a little grunt.

“I have everything to prove!”, the fused trainer then called, making Pesky sigh lightly, as a tired emoji appeared on his visor. Frida grumbled, leaning a bit closer to the man beside her, grunting softly. With her large frame she easily shadowed Pesky by now, yet for some reason she still quite enjoyed remaining close and behind the humans. The young man looked up, then shrugged and gently pat the large catdragon, as he muttered: “Can’t change his mind. I’d say he wants to prove to himself that he’s fine.” Frida didn’t approve, grunting softly as she looked back towards the trainer that stood a few ways off.

Kurai stared back at Pesky and Frida, who both watched his attempts to catch the wind with his wings. It didn’t quite work how he had hoped it would, after all of his lone trainings. Flying had always been something that he’d been shy about - despite his wings and despite how many other winged nera infused humans soared through the sky outside the cities, he had always preferred to have his feet firmly planted to the ground. Never feeling all too safe with having to follow the family tradition of getting dragon nera infused and then ending up with wings.

Pesky watched, slowly pushing his visor a bit up to take a sip of the juice in his hands, as he eyed Kurais wings. He had often wondered why Kurai did not just fly when he was traveling to other lands, but at the same time, he didn’t care quite enough to actually bother him about it. At some point he had just understood that Kurai either didn’t know how to… or simply was scared of height.

All the more he now blinked, pushing his feet a bit more into the ground as he felt a massive wind rush past, quick to lean to the side to hold onto Frida. Kurai, taken a bit aback by the sudden gust, barely noticed how it was enough to actually catch against his wings. Frida was quick to slither forward with a hiss, letting Pesky stumble, as her trainer was suddenly… thrown into the air.

“Kurai!”, Pesky called, looking up at the large trainer. To his surprise however, Kurai looked rather… relieved. Frida stopped, her head turning up to watch the noivern infused trainer, while Pesky walked back up to her.

Kurai twitched as another gust of wind pushed him back, though now he was prepared, leaning more into the wind to let it direct him. Grinning from ear to ear, he felt the surge of the wind against him, carrying him further as he carefully began to navigate. Using his wings to let himself be carried by the wind. It felt rather similar to the practice center he’d been going to with a few of his friends, that also had winged nera infused. Luckily there were such institutions, as without them, he probably would not have been able to really get over his innate fear of flying.

Pesky watched as Kurai continued to soar through the sky, humming lightly. “Well, look at that”, he smiled amused, as Frida still looked massively worried beside him. “Maybe you’ll have to take to the sky now too? Let those dragonair genes fly?”

Frida glared back at him for a moment, then another gust of wind - that actually threw Kurai off this time. With a yelp he fell, only for Frida to quickly dash up and catch him on her back, her own wings feathered out.

Kurai blinked, then chuckled, leaning back against his partner Pokémon. “Might need some more practice after all”, he grinned, looking back at the Liepard and Dragonair fusion. Frida turned her head a bit to look back at his trainer, then she sighed lightly, but gave him a light lick on his cheek. Kurai chuckled amused, before he pushed himself back up. “Okay, let’s try again!” 

Pesky, trying not to have a heart attack as he watched Kurai simply jump off Fridas back and get carried up into the sky, definitely preferred to sit down at this point.
