[The Call]Encouraging Words

Murkhaven was nothing like he had thought, husks walking the streets, just shuffling by as if they were lost souls. Ryoya ventured here without Hiyori accompanying him, he had told his roommate that it was quite too dangerous for him out there. The shiny regional Noctowl would turn his attention to his traveling companion.

Bokun was keeping up with his trainer easily, his feet making subtle thumps as he walked, his bone colored tail swaying behind him. He even nearly ran into Ryoya when the man stopped moving. Bokun would tilt his head to the side, letting out an inquiring grumble.

“Something caught my eye,” He'd answer, figuring that's what Bokun's noise was about.

Ryoya would point towards an alleyway, within it, sitting underneath a cardboard box was a pokemon unlike any other. This one was legendary with symbols on its body. Tear stains could be seen rolling down its round face.

The closer Ryoya and Bokun got, the stronger an overwhelming emotion of despair hit them both. No doubt, this was the pokemon they had been told about. He was sure others would have spoken with it, and tried to help it cheer up. But how could you cheer up a failed protector?

This would bring back an unwanted childhood memory, he was once that sulking child in the alleyway, getting drenched by rain and waiting for someone to show they cared, even if he had a home to go back to, Ryoya wanted someone to tell him everything would be fine.

Ryoya would reach his hand out, fighting against the strong emotions Mesprit was casting to touch the troubled pokemons cheek. This seemed to cause it to jump, wide eyes looking at yet another human, and one that wasn't just a husk.

Ryoya would smile towards the emotion pokemon, drawing his hand back, letting it now rest on his knee. “You shouldn't be so hard on yourself.” Ryoya would start, gaining the full attention of Mesprit.

“While it is true that you aren't able to do anything for the people of Murkhaven now, that doesn't mean all is lost. There are still pokemon here unaffected by shadowing, and though your job as a protector isn't over yet. For as long as you can still breathe, for as long as you can still fight, you can still protect. You can protect what is left of Murkhaven, or you can move on, choose another location.”

He knew those were probably words Mesprit did not wish to hear, but there was nothing else the little emotion pokemon could do. If it had fight still in it, a desire of sorts, then he was sure Mesprit would make its choice soon after pondering what it was told.

Bokun had been sitting by Mesprit for quite some time, keeping it company while Ryoya would play look out now and again. He couldn't just leave Mesprit as it was, weak and disheartened, exposed to the elements to say the least. Ryoya would offer to take it toward some of the other humans that had a camp setup, maybe that could help the pokemon feel better even. But… that was going to be harder than one thought.

On the way towards the area, the three of them were ambushed by a shadow imbued pokemon. It looked like a pidgey or a spearow, but Ryoya couldn't tell. He would press Mesprit against his form while Bokun would step forward.

Stepping forward to face the threat, Bokun would lower the top half of his body midway, letting out the loudest roar he could muster, but it did nothing except anger the shadow pokemon.

Soon a flurry of pecks and scratches were assaulting Bokun, usually resistant to the attacks, they were packing a stronger hit with them each time due to it being a shadow type. Bokun would retaliate with tackles of his own, trying to beat the pokemon, but tackle was barely doing anything!

In his frustration he waited and watched the Shadow Bird, dodging the talons that swiped at him. When the timing was right, Bokun opened his mouth up wide. No thoughts about any consequences whatsoever and he clamped down with his jaws. His Bite seemed to miss most of the Avian, but several feathers from the wing were spit out, which would surely hinder its flight ability.

The Shadow Avian was much slower now, allowing Bokun to dodge more attacks, and respond against them with a tackle or his new attack, Bite.

Though Bokun could tell his trainer wanted to hurry and go, Mesprit wasn't feeling all too well either. He would turn his attention back to the Avian, it looked like it was readying a pretty strong attack to say the least.

That's alright, Bokun was already preparing for it. His claws were dug into the ground, ready to take the attack head on. The Shadow Avian rushed at him to try and close the gap, Bokun would respond to this attack with a new one of his own.

His feet would kick, at first a few small pebbles wouldn't travel for, then bigger ones, and bigger ones. By the time the Avian was within striking distance Bokun kicked up some large rocks, jumping to hit two with his feet and once landed hitting the third with his tail.

Though Boku got hit head on by the attack from the Shadowed Pokemon, the Avian also got the full force of Bokun's Rock throw. It seemed to fall to the ground, unmoving and unconscious. Though bokun would stumble and stagger as well he's still tired and injured.

Ryoya would pet Bokuns head, between the brow horns before looking back to Mesprit as well.

“Should get going, the longer we linger the more chances we have to run into more shadowed pokemon. Though we'd still protect you.”

With those last words leaving Ryoya's mouth, he was once more leading Mesprit away.

Ryoya usually isn't a comforting man, but he can't help but to want to help Meaprit.
