Medical Help: Volunteer Work

Taking a deep breath, Ahimoth's unamused eyes looked at the large building before him. Pink eyes stood out against his pale flesh, snow filtering at his heels. He huffed, pokecenters as well as the hospital are important buildings. But there was one thing he hated about being in them, and that was needles. He was not afraid of them - even if he was, he would never admit it. With a huff, He walked toward the tall, looming building, shadow casting and merging with his own , Ahimoth thought for a moment.

'I could turn back and act like I never showed up. Just forget about helping out here.'

But another thought occurred to him, Snatcher, his Pokemon partner would probably be angry at him if he tried to walk away now. Begrudgingly he walked to the doors, snow crunching under his boots. The sliding doors auto opened, as soon as they did however, chaos started to ensue.

There were loud beeping noises of the equipment ringing through the building. Bodies of staff ran to and fro from areas not stopping for a moment. Ahimoth even got bumped by another person trying to get in.

'Such rude behavior. They could have said excuse me or I'm sorry.'

A scowl appeared on his face, but as he approached the front desk, the worker there looked at him. Dark bags under her eyes, and her skin looked a little saggy, but he said nothing for now. Instead he observes for a bit longer, seeing her hand sluggishly make its way to the phone. Voice dragged, and she sounded not very friendly while she spoke. It took a few moments, but she places the phone down, gaze returning to Ahimoth.

"What is your emergency?" Tone flat.

"I'm here to volunteer my services," Ahimoth stated bluntly, eyes sliding to the side to watch another nurse trying to calm down some distressed Pokemon.

The woman behind the counter seemed to brighten up, tone becoming a bit more chipper. "Oh good! God I can finally go home!"

'What does she mean finally? How long has she been here working?'

Ahimoth had no time for words, quickly he was drugged behind the counter and plopped down before the phone. He wasn't allowed to even pick a job he wanted. Everytime he tried to speak, he'd be silenced by explanations of how to do the task at hand. Perplexed, he nodded and tried to take mental notes of everything that was his job. The nurse seemed to bound out of the place with new energy and Ahimoth mostly sighed to himself. Surely it wasn't that draining or taxing!

A few hours in and Ahimoth began to regret his decision again. The phone kept ringing non-stop it seemed. There were a lot of injuries and quite a few stupid calls. He wanted to tell them off, those that called just for pranks or over common sense things. He has slammed the phone down at times with aggression. But he was doing well to keep himself maintained, he usually wasn't one to get so pissed, but all the noises were getting to him.

"Hello, yes this is the pokecenter. There are a lot of patients here currently. I'd say go ahead and bring them in if they have an injury. Alright, you're welcome, bye."

"For the last time I told you to stop calling with these dumbass pranks. If you keep doing it, I'll report you to the authorities!"

"Don't panic, take a few deep breaths. Alright, gently feel around your pokemons ankle. It grimaced? Alright, can you pick up your Pokemon? Yes, but probably has a sprain. It'd be best to keep the Pokemon off its feet. If you can, return it to the poke ball and bring it to the center. Alright, keep it off that foot."

His volunteer shift was coming to an end after several hours had passed and the phones were finally silent for once. It was complete bliss for Ahimoth. As he got his things and removed himself from the desk, another worker approached him. Their smile was genuine, and Ahimoth was suddenly pulled into a loose hug. Much to his surprise, though, he was released quickly.

"Thank you so much for your help! You were great! Have a good day, Ahimoth. Don't forget to get your rewards ~"

Ahimoth did offer a small smile, looking at the worker as they exited the pokecenter together. "Alright, and I will. Have a nice day."

Ahimoth traveled through the cold snow, dusting up against his legs. It was almost nightfall, but he'd make it back to his apartment in Wintervale before then.
