To take action

Mera's eyes burned from staring at a screen for 8 hours. As much as she enjoyed her job of 3D modeling, a long work day was still exhausting. Mera flicked on the TV, then dropped down and laid on the couch. Time for a good 5 minute break.

"RU-BI!" Ivy angrily yelled. Ivy was flung from her spot from the force of Mera sitting on the couch. She fiercely stomped her leaf on the ground.

"5 minutes, please," Mera said, exhausted. Ivy began yelling at her, ugh, she just wanted a break.

And then the ground shook. It was a bit worrying, but she knew it would be fine. There were trainers fighting Groudon, they could handle it.

"Groundon," Mera finally realized the news was turned on, "Two teams have been fighting tirelessly to put a stop to Groundon's rampage. From what our sources can gather team Ethos is focused on calming down the rampaging pokemon, while Cynic will take any means necessary to keep Reignsrest safe."

Mera had thought about joining Ethos. They sounded like good people. A flash of the stormy sea. A flash of the shadow sharks jaws. The pain, the casts, the suffering Link was in. Mera shuddered, she could never do what the people in Ethos could do. She had to keep herself, and her little bro safe.

"Flooooon?" she heard a sad asking voice along with Poe's body heat.

"Get off of me!" Mera yelled. She sat up and opened her eyes. "You got Link and me hurt."

"Flooon..." Poe had a very sad look in her eyes. She wondered why Mera had turned so anti-hug cold. With tears in her eyes, Poe floated away.

Days later Mera was out on a walk with Link and Ivy. Mera was surprised Ivy of all pokemon wanted to come. She was less surprised when Ivy wanted to be carried everywhere. Mera couldn't exactly use her phone like this. Link continuously bragged about his pokemon go catches in squawks, much to Ivy's annoyance at Link continuously flashing a light in her eyes.

Suddenly, an aggressive Zigzagoon/Jolteon ran into view. Sparks danced around it's fur. Ivy jumped from Mera's arms, unleashed a flurry of leaves, sending the wild pokemon running. "Bi!" Ivy said triumphantly, striking a victory pose. She looked towards Mera and Link for praise.

Before Mera could say anything, she heard slow clapping. clapping. "That was very good. We could use some more trainers like you on team Cynic."

Mera's head turned towards the stranger in a full suit of stylish tech armor that covered his face. Ivy stomped in attention seeking anger. Link caught a Slugma in pokemon go before looking up "Squa?.

"Surely you've already got plenty of trainers." Mera said, feeling somewhat uncomfortable. "I don't really battle, so I don't know how much of a help I could be..."

"With some training I'm sure you'll do just fine. We need all the help we can get killing Groudon."

"Wait, did you say kill?" Mera raised a worried eyebrow.

"Yeah, we tried controlling Groudon, but our boss ruled that out as an option. So we're banding together to stop that rampaging pokemon for good, and stop any more damage to the region."

"No, I'm not going to kill a guardian!" Mera shouted.

"Groudon's not a guardian anymore. It's gone mad and turned against the people. I'm not sure what you're planning to do, but I'd like to stop it without getting killed."

Mera shuttered at the word killed. The storm, the shark, the injuries, it was all coming back to her. "Whatever I do there's no way I'm joining a team that's going to kill Groudon."

"Have it your way." The mysterious man turned his back and shrugged. "There's no point wasting my time on someone who won't join." As soon as he came he walked away again.

Mera let out a big breath. The storm. The shark. She shuttered.

"RU BI BI BI BI BI!" Ivy was screaming, pulling on Mera's pant leg. She wanted attention.

"Of course Ivy, you did a stunning job chasing off that wild pokemon." Mera picked up Ivy. Ivy smiled with a triumphant "BI". Mera cradled Ivy in her arms. Nothing quite like an angery cherry to take her mind off of-

"EOS" a robotic voice from Link's phone spoke. "Play EOS"

"Link, that would be dangerous. You remember that boat rescue mission we took. It would be..." Mera started crying.

Link looked up at Mera and gave a gentle "Squa" Link climbed up onto Mera's shoulder, and gave her a hug, crying. Link pointed to himself, then gave a thumbs up.

"Link, I don't want to see you hurt again!" Mera leaned her head into Link. "You got pretty banged up last time. What if, wh-what if-"

"BI BI!" Ivy yelled, she squiggled in Mera's arms, annoyed at getting wet. Mera put Ivy down, and Link crawled in her place. Ivy puffed out a cheek annoyed.

"Link Save. Want EOS" Link typed out. Link puffed out his chest, still crying. Was he afraid, yes. But that wasn't going to stop him. Link wanted to help. Link wanted the admiration of the people he saved, and also be a good pokemon.

"But Link, what if you get hurt again." Memories of the day she and Link got attacked by the shadow shark flashed in her head.

"Play anime." his phone spoke. Link made a trilling noise as he wiped a tear from Mera's face. Link sat up and began pumping his fists "Squawk! Squawk! Squawk!" he cheered in the tone of a pep talk.

"Alright Link, I'll look into it. I want to keep us safe. But I also want to protect our guardian Groudon from Cynic. I'll stop in tomorrow and see if they have any low risk positions."

"Caw!" Link smiled and gave two thumbs up.
