Regret. That is what he was feeling right now- there was nothing but regret filling his guts as he stayed curled up underneath a fallen log. Just go on a small vacation Ed- go and try to visit your old home Eddy- see if any of your friends were still alive after the fog came into existence because you hadn't been back to Groveheart since it rolled in and haven't even had their contact information to try to talk to them electronically because you were very technologically challenged and can't quite manage to find them even with help! Edward.  He had made mistake after mistake after mistake and all of it culminated straight to this moment where he was now trapped underneath a log in the Lily-Pad Swamp with some insane pokemon out on the loose.

The vacation had been going fabulously as far as he was concerned, he hadn't managed to come across anyone he knew before the fog quite yet but it had been nice to be back in Groveheart. He could breathe the fresh air, feel safe knowing that crime rates were exceptionally low unlike back in Brookefell- and most of all he could relish in the existence of trees. Did Brookefell have some tree's? Of course. But it didn't compare in the slightest to Groveheart.  The lush forests that were brimming with life were something that simply couldn't be replaced in his heart and to see just how well they flourished even in these trying times was a treat. Before the fog came in he used to give guided tours of the surrounding, little nature walks through the landscape and his favorite had always been the Lily-Pad Swamp so in his curiosities he had left the main city to explore this little mangrove and see just what kind of fusions might have come into existence here.

He didn't come here to find out that a rampaging angry creature that had been in some god forsaken lab wanted to kill him.  That was not what he wanted to do. He just wanted to see some cute little pokemon maybe mixed in with a lovely, doe eyed deerling? Or perhaps see if he could catch a glimpse of some woopers. Instead as he was wandering he came face to face with a monstrosity whose very existence made his whole body begin to tremble and tears begin to build in the corner of his eyes. It had been horrible. There were many things that could make Edward break down into tears, but honestly outside of being pressured just a bit too hard there was nothing that could compare to bug pokemon with a few too many legs. And this one? This one had just a few too many legs with eyes that would burn straight through his soul.

It was long and flat, resembling a Centiskorch but it's whole body was covered in a silver cold steel. Eddy hated that he could even begin to make guesses at just what fusion made it look that way, a Durant was really his best guess. He hated both those pokemon with an intense passion. They just had too many legs, too many body parts- and to have one that was a fusion of the two stare him down as it slid forward effortlessly from behind a set of tree's? To then scream at him? It was simply too much for his heart to handle and he had scrambled away to try and hide. Some pokemon you could run from without any problem, but other pokemon it was best to remain calm and composed. As soon as Eddy turned to run he knew exactly which this thing was- And that was someone you should absolutely not run from. Another roar sounded from behind him and it somehow sounded angrier than their last and only confirmed that Edward messed up. Running really didn't seem to help his situation any.  The sound of it skittling across the mushy swamp was getting closer and closer. It would disappear for a bit and then he would hear the snap of a twig. The rustling of leaves, or worse yet the grunt of it sniffing the air in search of his scent. Every so often he could hear the loud crashing of a tree as in it's fit of anger it would knock them over.  This thing was most definitely going to kill him, Was this how he went out? Was this going to be the end? He didn't want to bring his pokemon out of their pokeballs, least they too might get devoured by this thing but he still ran his hand over them carefully. Betty, Chompy- He hoped that they would be able to find somewhere safe. Maybe somehow end up making their way back to Brookefell so that Celeste could take care of them in his absence. These were the thoughts that filled Edward's mind as the shuffling now came directly behind him.

The sound of rotten wood being crushed filled the air and he could feel it in his bones how his hiding place was being demolished. The pokemon had gotten it in their mouth and slowly they lifted it, bringing Edward out of the shadowed mold and into the light where he could gaze up at this pokemon wholly and completely.  They were just as terrifying as they had been when he first caught sight of them and Eddy couldn't help the hiccupped sob that left him. God those were so many legs- And look at it's chompers. What were they called... Mandibles? Steel mandibles that were completely ready to snap him in half. It tossed away the tree that had served as Eddy's only protection and soon it reached forward to grab a hold of he himself. Their legs wrapped around him as he was pulled up, taking a hold of his jacket and spinning him around, eventually having their hold onhis feet to where he was hanging upside down as they leaned in to sniff at him.

Edward didn't want to look. If this thing was going to kill him he decided it was best to not look at them. He wasn't brave enough for that and so instead he closed his eyes and tried to think of anything else.  He felt his jacket being pulled at, their head coming in underneath it and pressing against his side and as he expected the mandibles to tear into him he instead heard the loud ripping of fabric before he was dropped back down onto the ground unceremoniously. Edward yelped as his back landed on the overgrown mangroves floor, the long grasses circling around him as he was still very much alive and his eyes snapped open in confusion. That wasn't dying a horrible bloody death. He was dazed, confused, but he did slowly let his gaze go back to this creature. They were holding his jacket in their little hooked claws while their mandibles tore it apart and his confusion grew even larger. Then they broke apart his pocket. A trio of little pokemon cookies he used as treats for Betty and Chompy fell out and the lab-tested being lunged after them to snap those up in it's mouth.
