[Gift] Making Macarons
Word Count: 750
When he had first started his ventures at the cafe, baking alongside Salami it had been disastrous to say the least. Nothing had gone right, everything was burned, salt and sugar looked the exact same so the two of them would get mixed up and turn an entire batch of cookies to ruin. But that wasn't the case anymore, after all! He could now create even the harder baked goods and there was no fire to be found. One of his latest greatest prides would be the different macarons that he could create.
Macarons were one of those things that always were notoriously difficult to bake properly, even Salami would generally avoid them as he couldn't get them right so to see a batch of them all created to perfection? Well. It gave Klaus an uncommon sense of pride and joy that he didn't often get in life. Even more so when he saw others enjoying them as was the case right now. He'd just come out with a few new designs for them, shaping them and decorating them to look like different pokemon. He had some Mimikyu's, a Cyndaquil, a little Chikorita, Oddish's- he even had a Whiscash although that one was only thanks to his boyfriends insistence. It was a very ridiculous looking Macaron but it made Salami happy so Klaus was happy as well.
Right now there was a certain kerfuffle taking place in the dining room and as he came out from the back he could see a pair of young men who were in the middle of a debate on what to do. They were regulars at this establishment and so Klaus could only raise an eyebrow at the sight of them squabbling. "No.." Honey's voice was so pitiful as he said this. "I can't eat this, it would be blasphemous- Do you see them?"
One of the macarons that he had made was held up by the orange haired kid and Klaus could only barely retain his snort. It was one of the Mimikyu Macarons that he had made, the very pokemon type that he knew Honey was obsessed with. "How can you expect me to eat something so cute? I can't... I can't destroy something like this like this." Once more Klaus's pride began to well up within his chest as he heard the conflict. His Macarons were so cute and adorable that they were going to feel bad eating it because they wanted to keep it forever.
Their boyfriend who was equally amused just raised an eyebrow. "You can't just leave them to go bad though." He pointed out gently, sitting opposite of honey and tapping at the box with his hand. "These guys are meant to be eaten~"
Honey wasn't convinced as he looked back down at the box of them. Klaus knew that this man had gotten masses of different Mimikyu themed food in the past, there was no way he didn't but still he was struggling to eat the macarons. "...Do you want the display one?" Klaus finally asked from behind the counter. "It's already gone stale so you can keep it for a little bit and eat those ones."
He was sure that within a few days Honey would forget about the one lone display macaron and Seth would be able to toss it out once it really went bad. In having it so, Honey might eat the ones that had just been bought. Seth had bought a dozen and it really would have been a waste for all of them to go bad.
"... Can I?"
The hope in Honey's voice was undeniable and Klaus rolled his eyes. "Yeah yeah." He reached behind the counter to pull it out as Seth stood up to come and take it. In doing so, his guess was right and Honey stared at the ones that had been bought to go and promptly eat one of them. Perhaps with most people such a simple suggestion wouldn't work, but somehow Honey was always Naive enough to fall for suggestions like this and Klaus could only roll his eyes as the golden haired man melted at the taste of the little dessert.
To think he could make something now that could cause Honey such strife~ He might not care much about Honey as a whole but even so he felt pride at the fact that his decorating was good enough to cause such a confliction and that the sweet itsself could make them melt.
