Lanca stared blankly down at the man knocking on his door. This... "...Eddy?" What were they doing out here? The sound of pokemon crashing and breaking things was in the background, all of the many ditto's making a mess of the house but they were all ignored. What was Eddy doing here? He poked his head out the doorway, scanning the surroundings to see if there was anyone else within sight but. There wasn't. There was only Eddy. "How did you find my house?"
He didn't remember ever telling any of his little Brookfell gang where he lived, nor that he even had a house in Groveheart so what was this man doing here. The looked nervous, and uncomfortable- and were their clothes ripped? "Is that what's important right now??" Eddy squeaked up at him which only earned a small frown. Yes? He, did actually think that was rather important right now. "There's something out there- it's big- and it picked me up- and I was chased when I was in the swamp just outside of groveheart-"
He began to ramble. Rambling away about what he had just gone through and what he experienced and Lanca listened to all of it quietly. Letting them drone on and on until they eventually just ran out of breath. "... So you got attacked."
"Yes."
"Just outside of Groveheart."
"Yes!"
"And you think whatever chased you down, ripped your clothes, and moved you around like you were a toy, is just hungry."
"Yes!!!"
Lanca was at a loss of words. "And, you aren't calling Celeste, because he'd be upset over the attack. So you asked around about if anyones heard of me, then came to my house."
"... yes."
"So that I can help you try to feed it and calm it down."
There was some degree of hope that they would deny it, but Eddy nodded his head vehemently in agreement of this and Lanca brought his hand up to rub between his eyebrows. Honestly when he was here in Groveheart he was here to try and relax now-adays. He so rarely was able to just sit back and do normal things that he didn't like when such things got interrupted- but also. This man was from Brookfell where his favorite play-things all scurried around. They'd all be so upset if they found out he ignored this man so Lanca sighed.
"Okay." He said softly, giving into their whims. "So what do you want to feed it. Pokepuffs? Mushrooms? What did you say it was?"
"It was a Durant, Centiskorch fusion!"
"Right Right Right..."
Okay. So an angry, strange, Durant Centiskortch was running around just outside of Groveheart causing trouble. Momentarily Lanca remembered a report he had heard about an escaped test subject and he couldn't help but wonder if maybe this was it. "I always have at least two dozen Pokepuffs on hand. The goons are always wanting them so let's take those and go see it. Yeah?"
The suggestion was once more met with a series of earnest nods out of excitement. "Right.." Okay. In that Lanca went inside to grab the boxes of Pokepuffs and follow the man outside. They were jittery, very much so and they wobbled a bit with each and every step but he wasn't going to help them to walk. It wasn't any of his business if they struggled or not to walk so he'd just let them lead the way and as they made their way into the more swampy lands surrounding Groveheart his whole face scrunched up. He didn't like having water around his feet, it was wet and uncomfortable but Eddy ignored it all.
Eddy just kept walking forward with a newfound confidence now that he had someone backing him up. "It's right around here." Eddy said quietly and Lanca looked around more closely. There were certainly signs of a giant creature causing mayhem. Tree's that had been growing strong just a month ago had been ripped from their roots to lay sideways across the ground. Smashed into bits and pieces and while once upon a time this place was littered with fusions it was now barren and empty. Lanca couldn't see any life around here at all and it did make his skin crawl a little. That, wasn't a good sign was it? No. It wasn't.
Wandering forward Lanca took the box of pokepuffs that he'd grabbed and opened it up. "I'm going to give you half of the treats, okay? Hold onto them and don't let anyone else steal them from you. If a random pokemon approaches you, do not hand them over. Okay Eddy?" He felt like he was talking to a child, and Eddy seemed to get that same feeling as their face fell a little.
"... Okay. I wouldn't you know! These are for the, thing. That I found, these aren't for other random pokemon." Eddy sounded quite confident in this and Lanca nodded his head slowly. Right... Okay. He didn't believe it. If some sad looking wooper approached and made sad, upset noises at Eddy he would give into it within seconds. Eddy was weak like that but it wasn't really an argument that Lanca was wanting to go for this moment. Not when there was a supposed angry beast out here so he just went quiet to focus his attention on separating the Pokepuffs.
Half of them were for Eddy, and half of them were for himself. He was handing over the last of the little treats when he heard something snapping behind him, a twig followed by a splash of water. He then got to witness Eddy's eyes go wide with fear, see how their body trembled in panic and the whole sight of it just made Lanca give out a heavy sigh. The splash of water was louder now, coming directly behind him and he could feel something breathing on his neck. It was hot, and it was growling at him. "...Ah. It's behind me right now, isn't it Eddy."
