Finding the Injured (3)

It was always impressive to John to know just how considerate of others Jack was. He looked scary on the outside, a lot like a jack-o-lantern and with the flames falling from their chin they really did spook a lot of people- but he was so sweet and he listened so well to commands. A lot of Pokémon if they were told to lead the way somewhere might just go through what would be the safest for them- a water Pokémon might go through the river, or a fire type might just go straight through the fires. But Jack didn't do that, he took the long way around to lead John safely to their target. 

 

"Jacky, is it a Pokémon or another trainer we're going to find? Left arm for Pokémon, right arm for a trainer." 

 

The little Budew's right arm raised up and John gave a small nod. So they were going out to find a person. He'd honestly have preferred to know it was a Pokémon as people always were so much more finicky- or more so they talked more with words that he could understand and while you'd think one would be happy over being helped, so many just threw hissy fits! The amount of times John has sought to help someone and their pride got in the way was beyond words, hell, even his own husband was that way. Still though, he wouldn't leave anyone out here injured on their own so he followed Jack until he saw a hand sticking out from behind a bush. 

 

As he got the entire person in view he did a quick scan over them. They were covered in a lot of soot and smoke- evidently they had been laying there for quite some time but John could see the steady rise and fall of their breath so they were alive at the very least. "Good job Jack." John praised the little fiery Budew as he crouched down beside the person to pull out his pack and rummage through it. Somewhere in here he had brought a second mask and this man would definitely need it before he could drag him out of the warzone. The smoke was even thicker out here than it had been in other places and he could hear the growling and chaos of different Pokémon battling in the distance. It was very close to where Groudon was rampaging and John let out a heavy sigh. What was he doing out here? 

 

Their hair was long and laying all around him in red streaks so John reached forward to carefully start tying it up so that he would be able to transport him safely. He noted the dark scales that lined their body and just how lanky they were, and he noted numerous small burns and cuts along their body. "Do you think it was a litwick fusion he got caught in a scuffle with?" John asked towards Jack as he moved an article of clothing to stare at one of the injuries closer. None of it was life threatening thankfully, so he wouldn't work to adress them right now. He'd rather get them out of danger first and with a loud huff he lifted the man up over his shoulders.
