[Rank-Up]Learning about Dragonkites

It was a quiet day in Rivertide for the most part, it didn’t seem like there were many others around to partake in the sunlight that was offered, and the breeze, it was also a serene feeling. With his eyes closed, he could almost feel like he was floating on the wind now, flying like the Dragonkite he was fused with. His eyes slowly opened after a time, realizing that he had ventured to one of the large barricades that were erected to keep them from falling off, in a way. He sighed more to himself, putting one arm on the barricade, and with his other hand he curled his fingers against his paw and pressed it to his cheek. He pouted some himself, this was no fun, not at all. It was nice walking around, but he enjoyed talking to others, conversing. He didn’t like just silence - well he did at times, but this was not one of those times.

Haku looked toward the side, seeing what seemed to be a small flock of Dragonkites dancing around in the air with one another. There were two males and two females, swirling together, going through one another’s loops created by their bodies. Their large feather-like ears swayed, as did the feather-like appendages on their arms and legs. He had found himself mesmerized by their dance, as he was the first time he ever laid eyes upon the beautiful creatures. They were whimsical in their movements, and Haku was just… trapped watching them.

Finally when his eyes peeled from their dance and lowered, he saw what looked like a young child and their mother at a distance, the child seemed intrigued by the Dragonkite as well, while the mother seemed distraught and not paying attention to her surroundings. Haku was a little worried that the boy might fall over the barricade somehow, as he seemed to be trying to figure out a way to climb to the top of it. Usually Haku wouldn’t say anything to most people, but this situation wasn’t a good one.

He approached the mother with a kind smile of his own, feeling the innate need to go and check on her. There was a short conversation between the two, and he mentioned her son and how he was after the Dragonkite, in which she seemed to sigh in annoyance and answered why. Haku was surprised the young boy wasn’t scared of such creatures, but then again it’s not like they acted aggressive toward anyone that he could recall. So instead, he decided to watch the young boy and talk to him for a bit while the woman finished on her phone. He had his proof that he was a daycare worker - albeit for pokemon - but he could watch human children as well.

The two spent a few hours talking about different things, the Dragonkites for one that seemed to have left the area, and Haku even showed the boy his two partner pokemon, the Shurtle he named Kazame, and the Tatsugiri he named Temaki. The kid seemed to love pokemon, which was a good sign at least. The day was starting to shift to evening and the sun was beginning to set, coloring the sea and surrounding it with a soft pastel purple to orange gradient. It made the water look really beautiful as it sparkled under the darkening sky.

The mother was ready to go and got her son, thanking Haku for the time that he spent with them and for preoccupying her boy while she handled some important, adult matters. Haku welcomed her nonetheless and told her where she could find him if she was ever in Brookfell. Haku had turned to walk away, glad that there was no disaster and he did get to have an interesting conversation with a younger minded individual, he always loved to help teach a little.

A gust of wind gained his attention, and he quickly turned concern showing on his face, but it was wiped away when a Dragonkite floated in front of the mother and her child. Instinctively she hid the kid behind her, scared that the pokemon might hurt it, but on the contrary it did something else. The Dragonkite held out an orb, one that looked like it had come from its tail. The female looked curiously, as did Haku, and the Dragonkite nudged it gently against her chest.

When the woman accepted it, the Dragonkite let out a melodic hum in approval, before turning to take off to follow the rest of its flock. Being baffled and concerned, Haku ran up to talk to the woman who seemed just as astonished. Her answer threw him for a loop however, because Haku never knew too much about Dragonkite or their physiology, she must have been a long-time resident of Rivertide, or she read a lot of books.

She seemed to walk away a bit chipper now with her son, and Haku had also turned to walk away, just as confused as he was when the Dragonkite held out a gem. “They give their orbs to people who need a little extra kindness? Does that mean that I can do that as well? Is that why I feel compelled to be kind to those that are down?... I guess there’s a lot more about me that I need to learn about. Maybe I should buy a book on Dragonkites?”

Kohaku is a Dragonkite fused tariner, but he isn't permafused. However there is still so much unknown to him about Dragonkite sand their physiology as well as their behavior.

He just learned that they will give their gems or orbs to humans who seem to need some extra kindness in their life.
