[RnR]Quake Troubles

An officer's duty is never done and that seemed to be holding true even now. He had gotten a call on his TD explaining about the recent quake activity and how they needed all officers as well as volunteers on hand. He had met to only bring Knight with him since he's had experience, but his other two pokemon insisted they come for the job as well. Not that he minded but he worries for their safety since they aren't as strong. He looked at them through his rear view mirror, soon he'd have to park and they'd be on foot.

"I want you both to listen to Knight, he is the senior pokemon here. I know you three can communicate with one another. I worry about you enough as it is." Aeson paused when he was at the edge of Brookfell, some of the other vehicles were parked here. "This I'd a dangerous assignment. There's been reports of a large pokemon sighted around here. Thankfully we won't be alone if it decides to see us."

Aeson put the car in park and turned off the engine by brushing his hand over the start button. Aeson went to each pokemon and opened their door, watching Knight hop out first with the jingle of his collar and the other two pokemon, Lil'King and Queen did as well.

The four of them walked past the parked cars Andover some of the Rocky rubble that littered the deadlands. Usually it was hard terrain to get around anyways, but now it was more unstable due to the recent quake activity knocking loose rocks and trees, as well as cracking the already dried ground. It didn't take too long walking that the four met up with the volunteers and other response teams. There was a brief explanation of what they were to do and each person had a section to work in with their pokemon. If anyone needed assistance they were to call over the TD and get a hold of everyone. Danger was to be reported and injured pokemon brought to the tents they set up to be looked over by their first aid department.

Aeson took the southern side of the deadlands to begin cleaning up the immediate area. Aeson took to checking for any injured pokemon, while his three pokemon helped move the rubble out of the way. Knight rolled larger rocks thanks to his strength, while Lil'King helped move smaller ones using his strong Jaws to bust up several of the rocks and his wings to blow the smaller bits away. Queen helped move branches and fallen trees by cutting them up so they were easier to move. The job wasn't an easy one, and they had quite an area to cover.

"Be sure to keep your eyes and ears open. Any sounds you should treat with caution." Knight explained to the other pokemon. "If you find anything, come and get me immediately."

Though Queen was grunting a little from her exertion, she was the first to look at Knight directly and respond. "Understood Knight, I'll do my best to come back to you!"

That only left Lil'King to answer Knight, but he didn't. Instead he was working meticulously, and seemed to ignore what the older canine stated. Knight growled, he didn't like being ignored, but for now he'd deal with it.

Aeson came to check on his pokemon, a smile on his face seeing that the debris was cleaned up and they seemed to be working well together. Most of the area was done, and they had been at it for a few hours. The call came over the TD for them to regroup for a break. The four of them met up with the rest of the helpers, finding places on the ground to rest and begin to eat. Thankfully little meals were provided as well as water. The pokemon ate and drank ravenously it seemed. It made sense the pokemon would do more of the work than the human. They were lucky it didn't seem like anyone found an injured person or pokemon yet. But perhaps they counted their luck too soon.

The ground rumbled beneath them, pebbles skittering across the hard soil and more cracks formed. Many of the helpers also shook with the quake, a few fell on their asses as did some of the pokemon. The rumble lasted a good five minutes, during which one could hear trees snapping, hitting the ground with a thud, larger rocks falling and kicking up dust. It almost didn't seem like a typical quake, few of the members agreed, and the pokemon chartered to one another to make sure they were alright. Perhaps the sightings of a pokemon was true, it could be the cause of future quakes. But they were unsure what kind of pokemon it was and if it should be confronted or avoided. They were tasked once they got their bearings and ate, to go back to their areas and check for any injured pokemon or people once more. Aeson quickly ate what was left of his food and drank the rest of his water. His pokemon did the same, Knight was at his heels as the three of them took off in a hurry. There was no time to waste, Lil'King took to gliding when he could, clambering up on the cliffs and taking off. While Knight and Queen remained on the ground.

The area was a mess again, but they got right to work. There was several calls over the TD this time about injured pokemon being brought to the nursing tents. Aeson even had several this time, Knight would carry those that could hold on, on his back and Lil'King and Queen stayed moving rubble as quickly as possible. Aeson made sure to watch out for anything odd, but even he had to leave to take some unruly pokemon. Small scrapes and scratches were on his hands and forearms, little bit of blood mixed with some of the dirt, but he paid it no mind. Their goal was to retrieve as many injured pokemon as possible so they could be looked at. Knight was putting his attack to use to make things faster, being mindful of those near him.

This was drawing out later in the day, but they couldn't go home yet until the place was cleaned up and maybe even blocked off for now. That was still up for debate as the discussion was happening over the TD during the rescues.

Aeson wiped his brow with a sigh and let his hands press against his lower back, it was starting to get to his muscles a little bit. "No time to rest," he reminded himself. "Not until we make sure all injured pokemon are secured safely."

Lil'King stood beside of him panting heavily, obviously exhausted from the strenuous activity, that he sat on his back legs. "A-are we done yet?"

Queen gave him some pity pats almost, though the exhaustion was obvious on her face as well. "I-i think we are almost done, right Knight?"

Knight glanced in their direction, he tries to hold tall and seem not as tired as he was. He turned his eyes to look at their training partner. "I believe we are almost done with this. Aeson is the final call here."

Aeson could almost hear the strain in the little ones voices, giving them a saddened smile he brought out their pokeballs. "I must have worked you a lot. I can hear the strain in your cries. Here I'll put all of you up." Queen and Lil'King happily went into their pokeball, but Knight refused. He jumped out of the way, gaze narrowed at his trainer. This repeated a few times before Aeson gave a tired smile.

"Gonna stay with me till the end huh?" He asked gently, patting Knights head as he did so. "I think we just need to report in and see if there's anything else they need help with. Let's hope that the last quake the Deadlands will suffer for awhile, right?"

Knight couldn't agree more with Aeson, letting out some yips in agreement as the two of them waked to the center area. He could see in the distance some of the nurses still running about, and a few of the other workers were around resting. This was a better mission than he thought it's be. But he also knew they weren't done yet, not everyone was back, and those that were looked too exhausted to drive.

"We might have to camp out for the night, or sleep in the car till morning."

Knights ears lowered and he gave a soft whimper, he didn't like the sound of staying in the car. But if it had to be done he was sure he could put up with it for a night.

"We'll see what the others vote fr and go from there bud. I know it's not ideal, but it may be for the best right now."
