Lanca Rank up: Master

761 Words

There was always one thing that Lanca hated more than other things, It made his blood boil and his eyes see red. While most times his emotions didn't get the better of him when out on a job this, this could always cause his anger to spike. The cause of his anger was very simple, it was when he was something that he was incapable of doing. Something that he didn't know, something that he didn't understand.  Just knowing that there was something he couldn't do was upsetting to him as anything less than perfect was a problem.  As it stood right now, he'd been met with the prospect of there being something that he'd been less than perfect at and now sat at home thinking about it.

Numerous ditto's were at his feet, making noises up in his direction but he nearly fully ignored them. They didn't matter to him, no, the only thing that mattered was ensuring he couldn't be made a fool of again. As such he had gone home and was staring at a small green rowlet on his computer screen. Rowlingo. A language learning app that yelled at him every time he didn't properly follow in his studies. To miss a day was  out of the question so it was the best way for him to try and learn a new language.

As it turned out Honey had managed to know some language that Lanca didn't already know, and hed been talking to him in a manner that could only assume was mockery using it. It was insufferable to know that little brat knew something like this and could mock him using it and Lanca couldn't make heads or tails of it. They already were at odds most every day even if they played nicely infront of there boss and this just further increased the odds. As such, he was now sitting here. staring at that green bird of death that was just about ready to yell at him in an attempt to get on par with Honey.

"I'm almost offended by this." Lanca mused out quietly to the pokemon that gathered around at his feet. "Me, playing catch up with him. Can you believe it?" The squeaking continued as Lanca snorted and stared at the unusual words at his screens. How many languages did that brat know... It was more than Lanca cared to have known in his life time but he was now working to try and learn them all. There were at least three different languages he had going at once on this app and it made him frown a little. "...Do you think this is even effective to be doing multiple at once?" He didn't care what the ditto's might think or any opinion on the matter they might have. It could very well be the most inefficient way of doing this but his brain told him he should get at least a basic understanding of everything before that squirt speaks up and pesters him again.

Every day he spend hours staring at this gods forsaken Rowlett, going through word after word, sentence after sentence. Phrase after phrase all the while trying to piece it together with grammar and he felt like he was going to die the entire time. Languages just weren't one of those things that he enjoyed having to learn, but it was necessary and the further and further he got the more certain he was that Honey was mocking him. He still didn't have the exact word that they called him, but he knew they said "You are the absolute-" And he just assumed the last word was some kind of mockery. There was the equivalent to a swear tossed in right after absolute that Lanca had learned due to his own research, but he didn't know yet what he was the absolute fucking of.

That was, until it did appear and caused the man to freeze. He knew general words of praise and disliking, but didn't know the more sophisticated ones until now. Phenomenal. He was absolutely fucking phenomenal. That's what Honey had been saying. Lanca stared blankly at the word and soon let out one of the heaviest sighs. It wasn't even an insult that Honey had been muttering at him when they were together, it had been praise. "What the fuck Honey..." He muttered under his breath as he leaned back away from the screen. Why couldn't he ever just say these things normally and have to hide them among a slough of different languages.
