Journal Entry: Meeting Grimm

I looked at my TD, seeing the screen before my eyes and the opaqueness allowed me to look at the grass and sidewalk as Idid so. Part of me frowned in thought, a finger curled under my chin, I moved my hand to push the screen, shifting from the page I was onto another one. I knew the consequences of moving out of the house, and my mom was adamant on me to find a partner pokemon. Iknew Iwould want one that had musical talents, I wanted one that would be able to provide me with entertainment and love.

Tmye was one that piqued my interest and it looked like a chatot fusion. I could teach it how to sing and even teach it how to speak some words - that would be wonderful! I walked down the street, making sure what store it was at before Iclosed off the screen and passed a few people on the sidewalk. I ignored them for the most part, and said hi to those that I knew - which wasn’t very few in number. It wasn’t until I was in an area between the two stores, on the sidewalk that something unexpected happened.

Ihad taken my backpack off and sat it down on the street to take something, no sooner than I removed my hand, the other loosely held onto it, the wind flew past me. I saw a blur of dark blue and my backpack was yoinked from my hand, also pulling me to the concrete harshly. I had winced in pain, hair sprawled out and my cap landing on the concrete. Ishouted at the pokemon Ibarely caught a glimpse of, but it didn’t stop.

Frustrated, Iput my hat back on and pushed myself up, running full sprint after the pokemon that had just stolen from me. I rounded the corner of the alleyway, narrowed my gaze on the pokemon that seemed backed into a corner. I took note of the wings it had, surely it could fly with those wings? The glare it gave me, and the snarling mouth told me that it was not playing around.

As I took a few steps closer, getting an angry bark from the pokemon, as if it was warning me, Ifinally was close enough to see, reflected by the light from the sun, the slight showing of ribs, just how malnourished this child seemed to be. I felt awful, Idid have some food in my bag, maybe that’s why it stole my bag?

I shook my head, and ran forward after my bag. The two of them danced around the alley a little bit, spilling out some of the contents of my backpack. Finally the food containers fell out of it, the lids popped off when they hit the ground giving the Houndour/Murkrow time to eat up the food there.

I wasn't surprised, scrambled to get the other things back in my bag and looked at the Houndour/Murkrow, he still looked hungry, despite eating the food that was on the ground. I sighed and looked from him, getting a bit closer to get the bowls back in my backpack. “You know,” Ispoke, reaching for a pokeball and holding it out toward the wild pokemon. “You could come with me, I can make sure that you’re well fed, good food too, like what you just ate.”

The houndour looked at me with distrust, narrowed gaze as his lips snarled up a little to show his unhappiness. He looked to the pokeball and then to my hand, slowly his red eyes shifted to my bag instead. He was thinking about it. He wanted more food, it was obvious he was hungry as he could be, but to trust another human after being mistreated, well that he wasn’t fully prepared for. He let out a gruff noise, and at first turned away from me.

I frowned and got a little closer, testing the personal space of the fusion, Ireached the hand with the pokeball forward again. “Look, you can continue the way you have been, starving on the street and barely scraping by to sustain yourself. Or you can come with me and be well fed and taken care of. Which will it be?”

The fusion huffed again, and turned to look at me, tail semi-down and his ears bent back. He wasn’t happy with the choices, but Idid have good food, and he didn’t sense any ill intent from me. He did trot forward, sniffing the pokeball and used his paw to smack it away with an angry look and a few more grunts from him, a slight snarl on his lips.

It took some time for me to realize maybe why he had tossed the pokeball away and I fiddled in my bag for another one. I pulled out a dusk ball instead and pushed it toward the pokemon a bit. "Is this the one you want to be caught in?”

The Houndour-Murkrow fusion sniffed it a few times, before letting his ears move forward, tail wagging slightly he touched his nose to the pokeball to allow the red light to absorb his body.

This wasn’t the first pokemon that I had envisioned my capturing, nor was this a pokemon I Thought would even be my starter. But sometimes…a surprise could be the best gift one gets. I Couldn't wait to tell my mommy and show my, my partner pokemon!
