[WVE]Journal Entry: Wintervale

My mother insisted that I take things in stride, but if I do that then I won’t be able to explore everywhere that I wish to explore, or that I want to explore! I want to see the world and widen my research, which is why the next one on my list is the floating city of Wintervale. I packed for the cold, wearing a heavy sweater with a jacket wrapped around me, and though Grimm and Opal didn’t like it, I gave them outfits to help keep them warm as well.

Sometimes when I’m idling here and I see Opal trying to fly, I think maybe I got an outfit that was a bit too heavy for her, but that was fine. Grimm seemed somewhat comfortable, but unhappy with the outfit. 

I giggled at him a moment, and gently patted his head in a loving way, “Don’t worry Grimm, we can get out of it soon, I just want to visit Wintervale and maybe get a hotel there. I want to observe the people and what fauna they have. Being forever in freezing weather that had to affect the local plants and even possibly the pokemon that used to live there, now that the city was up in the air. 

I boarded the vehicle that came down to collect passengers to bring them up to Wintervale, and as soon as the ride was over with, I had ignored any odd looks I got from others, surely Wintervale gets plenty of visitors, right? I didn’t really care, I was quick to step off of the bus when it stopped and I misstepped a moment, face planting right into the soft, fluffy snow in front of me. I oofed and frowned, I wasn’t pissed off, but oh my goodness it was so cold! I jumped up as fast as I could and was quick to dust myself off, pulling up a map when I touched my TD and fixed my screen a bit. I wanted to figure out where I was heading. I knew the location that I wanted to visit, but I didn’t know how to get there because I had never visited Wintervale before. I wanted to go check out the Crystal Willows, they sounded really beautiful. To see how the ice crystals hang down on the leaves and I bet it looked like frozen tear-drops or something of the sort. It has piqued my interest.

Grimm and Opal didn’t seem too happy to be here, the faster we got out of there the better for them, it was more than likely because it was very cold, even with the outfits they had on, even with the outfit I was wearing currently, I could still feel a chill biting at my skin.

While we walked through the city of Wintervale, staring at the pagoda styled buildings - they were much different than the ones in Grovehart, and the shrines that one could see at times. I stopped and asked a few of the residents a few questions, but most of them stared at me with annoyed or hardened faces it seemed. Their words weren’t all that kind and most were stern or just blunt, there was no idle chatter, no beating around the bush. The people here were in no way normal, that was for sure. Either way, all three of us found our way to the area with some of the Crystal Willows. They were as beautiful as I had thought they were, one wasn’t allowed to get too close to them, so they wouldn’t damage the trees or the leaves that held the cascading frozen water on them.

Opal left my side to get closer to the Trees to inspect them, not touching them as she fluttered around curiously, and Grimm could only sniff those that were close to him. That was alright, he still didn’t seem to like it that much when a drip of water hit his nose. I found it funny, laughing at them a little, before I turned my attention back to the trees. I was quick to take a few pictures of my pokemon and the trees that sparked my curiosity in coming here.

Satisfied with what I had, we would wander around Wintervale a little more to ask about the religion, beliefs, traditions, or at least ask those who would even bother to answer the questions I had. Not a long of them seemed to like being asked as many questions as I was, but… well there were just some things that one couldn’t experience without seeing it or hearing it from the source for that matter.

I figured that I've caused enough of a hassle and that for now, I’ll get a hotel for the night instead of trying to make my way back to Grovehart. Hopefully the hosts will be nicer than the strangers on the street have been thus far.
