The data Dialup had collected on the Nera had, if nothing else, proven amusing. She'd sent in the video and her entire transcript of the encounter, her notes, her location, and, after a brief period of review, she got back a message. Not just any old official scrap, either- templated as it had read to her- but something useful.

Schematics.

Lounging on her comfortable sofa, Dialup stroked Giga's back slowly, from head to tail. He was, for once, napping with a serene expression on his wide little face, expanding beneath her hand. She shifted carefully, slipping her free hand underneath along his vibrant red belly, and rose. Sauntering to the study, she hip-checked the door open, and moved to the desk. Neat boxes of random knick-knacks and scrap items she'd scavenged, bought, and kept over the years, decorated one wall within easy reach. She set Giga on a small bed on one corner of the desk, and smiled as he sleepily yawned, and burrowed in. Satisfied that he wasn't going to cause a fuss, Dialup pulled the schematics back up.

A common jar, a bit of wood, a leather strip. Resin, to seal it. A little bit of work, to make a hinge, if you didn't want to screw the lid on manually. Something that a place was known for, if you wanted to increase your odds of catching something specific to that place. Like called to like, apparently- and Nera seemed to have a preference for materials.

That was interesting, she supposed. For now- a jar best suited to Wintervale seemed most appropriate. Humming faintly, Dialup swiveled her chair, plucked up a tray. She started to pick out a few different jars, weighing them in her calloused hands, checking close for micro-fractures. Once she'd found a pair that would do, she pulled out a fistful of leather strips, and pulled down her kit to tool it properly.

There were a couple bits of wood on hand, pulled out and measured. Added to the tray, along with a whittling knife. A few random watches, a clock, and a bit of silicone- a sample circle that she'd picked up, and squeezed sometimes when she was trying to listen to something uninteresting. All materials gathered, she sat back down, set the tray within easy reach, and set to work on fitting the jar with the leather strips. Brass buttons pushed through, secured neatly. Pulled taught against the glass, in the pattern shown. It wasn't wholly necessary- the leather was just a harness, something to make it easier to hang jars by, but she was a stickler for instructions.

The hinge-lid was a fun little aside, something that responded to a button-press, and sealed itself solidly using the resin. She made it out of saw-tooth gears and a lever, and felt a hint of pride when it opened fully, and then shut swiftly with no catches or creaks.

The left-over metal scraps were swept into the scrap box, and the silicone affixed to the bottom of the jar. The wood, she whittled into a little plaque, affixed it to the jar. Well- that looked like the diagram, at least. Nothing to do now but test it out, and then make more of the same. As she set it down, Giga blinked awake, and shook himself sleepily, peering up at her. With a smile, she lifted her hand, and poked his little snoot, watched him squeak in indignation. "Thanks for your help, little man."
