Poffins come in a variety of colors and can be used to change your Pokemon's color palette in a way that is not permanent. Eating a colored Poffin can change the entire palette or a minimum of 70% coverage. Eating a normal Poffin will remove the color changes. When using a colored Poffin the user can use any color in the chosen spectrum, light, and dark tones can be used on the same design in different places or it could be a solid coverage if wanted.
