RIVERTIDE
Name: Rivertide
Population: Estimated 6 Million
City Themes: Blue- Bright Coastal City
Representative of the Mexican style with bold colors and sturdy buildings
that are quite blocky. Traditional but not afraid to embrace technology.
Local Climate: Rivertide is close to Brookfell and gets a warm breeze mixed with salty sea air.
It is often warm and humid by the beach but gets drier towards the lush flower fields that grow behind the city towards Grovehart.
Keeping along the coast it gets cold very quickly.
Local Fauna: The plants that grow in Rivertide are as colorful as its people.
Flowers of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Trees tend to be of the tropical variety such as Palm while other large plants like Monstera are quite happy to thrive.
Culture: Inspired by Mexico. Music and Dance are a strong part of their culture.
Bright colors and festivals are important to them. Dia de los Muertos is a strong representation of how they handle death in their culture- a lighthearted festival of remembrance.
Naturally, their festivities have been boosted by modern-day technology and holograms.
History: Rivertide was founded by one of the King’s children, blessed by a Guardian Lugia, but it was built on the backs of travelers.
Seaflolk who traveled the world in Pokemon-shaped boats would frequent the city though its laidback and friendly community eventually persuaded some to make it a permanent home.
Over the years Rivertide became a hotspot for Seafolk with most coming to put down roots and today the majority of Rivertide have some form of ancestry with them.
Families are proud of this and that history is shown in their festivities as they encourage freedom and curiosity brought by their ancestors.
A lot of modern families still take part in crafting Pokemon-themed houseboats and Rivertide Harbor is often full of them- each more extravagant than the last.
These boats are usually made thin enough to travel the rivers and channels that connect most of the cities- primarily to Grovehart.
Crime is minimal in Rivertide but still more than Grovehart’s general yearly count. Usually petty things like stealing or wielding a knife.
They are very welcoming people to outsiders and tourists knowing that their festivals bring a great amount of revenue to the city.
Something is always happening in Rivertide, Music can usually always be heard on the streets.
History Since Outbreak: Since the Outbreak that happened four years ago, a large mist wall came up circling the entire region.
It stretches over the ocean and can be seen from a distance on clear days, creeping closer at night.
Many have tried to sail through the fog but have been lost or turned around and returned back where they started.
Since then all recreational travel out in the ocean has been mostly locked down for safety issues. Rivertide continues to celebrate to try and keep their worries at a minimum.
